Palm OS: Reminders

iDeal and your PDA provide powerful tools to assist you during the sales cycle from Prospecting to Closing. In this edition of Tips and Tricks we will cover how to use reminders to help you ensure that you don't miss any sales opportunities:

• Set a reminder to call a prospective customer back when new models arrive on the lot

1. •After closing a lease deal, set a reminder to contact the customer 2 months before the lease runs out to start selling them their next vehicle
   

2. •After closing a customer, set a reminder to call the customer in 1 week to follow up on their positive experience and ask them for referrals and other prospects
   

3. •Set a reminder for the weekend sales meeting or other appointments with prospects
   

Use reminders to be more effective in your sales efforts and provide a positive, professional experience to your customers. Here's how...

Setting a reminder on a calendar event:

• In the Calendar application select the event and tap on "Details".

1. •On the "Event Details" screen tap on the "Alarm" checkbox and then set the amount of time before the event that you want to be reminded (for example, 15 minutes).
   

• Tap "OK". The event will now show a small alarm clock indicating that the reminder is set.

Setting a reminder on a task:

• In the Tasks application select a task and tap on "Details".

• If no Due Date is set then tap on "No Date" in the Due Date field and set the due date.

• Tap on "Alarm".

• Tap the checkbox at the top of the "Set Alarm" screen.

1. •Set the number of days before the task is due that you wish to be reminded (for example, 3 days).
   

2. •Set the time that you wish to be reminded (for example, 11:15am).
   

3. •The box above the "OK" button will show when the alarm will be triggered. When all settings are correct tap the "OK" button to return to the "Task Details" screen.
   

4. •Tap "OK" to return to the task list.
